Pristine Out This Week
Posted by kyberforged on September 22, 2026 at 1:40 pm2025-26 Topps Pristine Basketball drops this week, and I’m really curious how everyone feels about this one.
$779.99 for a hobby box is a LOT of money, even for a premium product. You’re getting three encased cards, including two autos and an autograph relic, and there are some absolutely ridiculous chase cards in the checklist.
That Wemby 1/1 where he actually drew Texas from memory is already getting a ton of attention too. 😂
But at nearly $800 a box, are you guys ripping Pristine, buying singles, trying a break, or just watching everyone else gamble with their wallets?
I’m honestly more tempted to watch the singles hit the market and see what some of these cards actually sell for.

I’ve never bought a hobby box over $200, so that’s definitely expensive to me. I’d do like the guarantees in it though. Plus the chase cards are exciting. I’d probably still just wait for the singles. I think what I’m going to do is just put a little money to the side each week and then just splurge on a hobby with the thought that’s it’s complete entertainment. Don’t worry I’ll share, win or lose haha
-
That’s honestly how I’d look at it too. If you’re going to rip a box that expensive, treating it as entertainment instead of expecting it to “pay for itself” makes the experience way more enjoyable. And saving a little each week definitely makes that one big splurge easier to swallow. 😂
-
I look at all boxes as entertainment. Like going to a $10 slot machine. Am I going to win, probably not, Is it going to be fun because I may hit big, yes!

I will say this is the type I’d spend money on just because I like the autos, encased, and relics that come with the purchase.
-
Yeah, I’m with you on that. The autos, encased cards, and relics make it feel like you’re getting something substantial out of the box regardless of what names you hit
-
Yeah it doesn’t have to be equal to the cost of the box, but if there is real value there, I am excited for the rip!
-
Because honestly most cards aren’t a their value yet when they are ripped. You may have came out under at the rip but a few months later who knows
-
For sure. Goes either way depending on the good games and bad games. Hit and hope haha

sadly im not much into basketball as i was in the 90s. and i dont think i would ever buy any hobby boxes of that cost.. heck over 200 and im probably just gonna not do it.
-
Definitely understandable. If you aren’t excited about the sport or non sport, it is hard to get excited about spending $770 plus on a hobby.
-
Yeah enjoying what you are ripping is all apart of the experience. if you ever rip a prem product I only recommend doing it with cards that if they are flipped will go into your PC. I bought Smugglers outpost a few months back. $400 but everything it was beautiful
-
The only time I didn’t enjoy the product but still bought into a break, not the exact same thing as opening boxes, was when a tennis sapphire product came up on Whatnot and it was something like $30 for a group of $35 players and every card in that product was a hit, numbered, or auto. That was well worth it. I got a delivery of 30 plus cards and most of them were auto or numbered. value ranging from $5 to $30.
-
If you’re getting 30+ cards for around $30 and almost everything is numbered or an auto, that’s a completely different experience than paying into a random box hoping to hit something. Even if you don’t love the product itself, getting a stack of hits for that price would be pretty fun. And getting some $20–$30 cards mixed in definitely doesn’t hurt 😂.
-
The best buy I have had on Whatnot for sure. Now I have not seen that come up again haha, but I did sell a few of the cards. It took a little longer because it is tennis, but I am okay with waiting. The money will come back over time.
-
Tennis has its moments we have some that are incredibley popular
-
Once a big tournament comes back, the cards will go up and sell. I can be patient!
-
Yep! We did an event during Wimbledon and there was a big tournament here in Cincy recently
-
Ah see I need to get on the schedule of these big events, so I know when they have a better chance of selling. Still new to the selling side, so once step at a time haha
-
Yeah everything has it’s peaks and valleys as far as values go
-
Nothing is going to show that more than the NFL quarterbacks after week 2!
-
I think Daniels and Williams are going to be ok this season…Dart on the other hand….
-
-
-
ehh even with baseball and possibly football and hockey im not sure id still spend that. but iim sure as a grow as a collector and seller my mindset will change on that and one day ill drop the funds on a big box

So did anyone hit anything big from pristine?
-
I think the case we broke produced 2 Cooper Autos and a Harper /5
-
I’d say you hit a few good cards haha that’s awesome!
-
Maybe just a good ones, like 1 or 2 lol it’s a nice product they did good on it
-
