Marvel Vault
Posted by kyberforged on September 24, 2026 at 1:17 pmMarvel Vault is the kind of product that really has my attention because it feels like it’s going after the premium collector.
The full-size sketch cards are a huge part of the appeal for me. A true full-size original sketch feels more like owning an actual piece of artwork than just another trading card, especially when you get a great artist and a character you love.
I also like that Vault seems built around those bigger, centerpiece-type hits rather than just giving you another product where you’re chasing parallels of the same characters.
Would you guys rather have a high-end Marvel auto, or a full-size original sketch from an artist you really like? That’s a tough choice for me.

In this case I’m going with the sketch and it would be framed and on my wall where I can look at it. Yes you can also display a card but it’s too small for me to enjoy like a larger piece of art.
I’m curious about which costs the most and hold value best (at least currently). Which is it?

Def big characters like Spidey, Doom, Cap, Iron Man, Venom, Wolverine fetch the highest prices
-
Interesting. I’m always intrigued with which characters become and stay popular. Sometimes it’s predictable. And sometimes NOT!
-
Doom is kinda new to that list. Avengers: Doomsday is making his popularity jump
-
You read my mind. That’s the one I’m least familiar with
-
Long story short, Robert Downey JR is back but from an alternate reality where instead of becoming Tony Stark/Iron Man he become a tyrant called Dr.Doom. If I can get describe Doom, think Dr. Strange’s magic meets all Iron Man’s tech and he’s one of the baddest dudes in comics lol
-
Gonna be interesting to see how they incorporate him in this run cause the original Fantastic Four Dr. Doom was not it lol
-
So, far from story leaks and stuff it seems he comes from the F4 universe just hasn’t ever turned villain yet. Another popular rumor is the F4 universe exists because Cap stayed back in time and that’s the universe he went to after Endgame. So a few things changed with that, one of which is rather than this once in a generation genius is born Victor Von Doom rather than Tony Stark.

Yeah I think the Russo brothers came out and said Doomsday was created by Steve Rogers going back in time

The storylines are really interesting. And in real life certain decisions push us one way or the other. That’s why I think people enjoy these comics and movies. They’re fictionalized (and more interesting) versions of things we might think about. How life could have turned out a total another way for us. I wasn’t familiar with the Marvel universe until the movies and loved what the writers had done with mythology.

I would prefer the auto, but I can see the appeal of the sketch. It is a great looking product, but I was not expecting the high price to limited number of cards. A premium product for sure! I do like the current Marvel products, they look and feel premium. I have a decent collection of auto’s but I have not found the right show to sell them yet. Same goes for most of the non sport I have. I still buy them though haha One day I will find the right market.
-
And I completely understand the “I haven’t found the right market yet” problem. Non-sports autos can be tough because the right buyer might be at a comic con, the right card show, or buried in a collector group rather than the usual sports crowd.
-
I think you’re right and I may try a bigger show that includes more non sport and try it out there. I want to avoid eBay because of the fees. If I meet someone who has a market and a need maybe I can trade them for sports. Just spit ballin now.
-
I think that’s a pretty good strategy. A larger show with a stronger non-sports presence could put you in front of collectors who are actually looking for those autos instead of trying to force them into a sports-heavy market.
-
I haven’t even tried a big show, so I guess my “I can’t sell them” comments are based on very limited show experiences. I do really enjoy the shows so I’m sure I’ll be going to many more. Just have to buy enough inventory.
-
That’s fair. A couple smaller shows probably aren’t enough to really judge the market for non-sports stuff. A bigger show with a wider mix of collectors could be a completely different experience.
-
And now to plan which one I will attend next! I’ll have to find a Tampa or Orlando show to test it out.
-
Honestly Orlando’s closeness to Disney I feel would help the non sports more
-
Ah good call! That is a great point. I am going to be coming into some Disney cards soon so that will work well.

I wonder if they are going to do a dual card with Iron Man/Dr. Doom with RDJ’s auto on it
-
-
Yeah that would be the card for him to sign for sure!
-
-
Yeah I can believe that. Trying to find it on eBay lol
-
Non sports are seeing a crazy jump, my boss was going to get more Star Wars Chrome but it’s over $900 on the secondary market
