2026 Bowman Football is officially here, and this might be one of the most interesting Bowman football releases we’ve seen.

For the first time, Bowman is putting active college players and NFL players together in the same product, and we’re getting 1st Bowman cards of college prospects. And yes… Arch Manning is in the Prospects checklist at #201.

You also have NFL rookies, veterans, Chrome versions, prospect autos, Chrome autos, and even the new Red Rookie Redemption program.

For me, the big question is whether collectors actually embrace 1st Bowman football the way they did with baseball.

Do you guys see 1st Bowman becoming a major part of the football hobby, or do you think NFL rookie cards will always be king?

Yeah, I think that’s a huge part of it. Bowman already has a strong name in baseball, so if Topps really pushes the “1st Bowman” angle in football and makes collectors understand what makes those cards different, I could see it catching on. The marketing is probably going to be just as important as the checklist.

I just feel like most sports releases should be in the offseason and not during the season

I actually agree with that from a collecting standpoint. During the season, prices and interest can change so quickly based on what happens every week. In the offseason, you have a little more time to evaluate the player, the season they just had, and where the hobby might be heading instead of buying into the hype of whatever happened yesterday

Exactly. One week a player can have a monster game and then the next week have a dud

looking forward to this one. I haven’t checked out the inserts yet, but looking forward to what they have done from a creativity perspective.

just went on the website to check them out. Definitely some cool ones. The GPK is cool. I like the use of popular IPs as long as it doesn’t “jump the shark” so to speak. Wasn’t a big fan of the minions, but the Tecmo Bowl the did a bit back and the GPK are pretty cool.

The Tecmo Bowl crossover was a great example of doing it right, and the GPK stuff works really well too. The Minions one just didn’t really do anything for me. When the crossover actually fits the aesthetic of the product, though, I’m all for it.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been hearing too. The inserts actually look like they put some effort into making them feel different rather than just recycling the same designs we’ve seen a hundred times.

Same here. I’m really curious what they did with the inserts because that’s where Bowman can really have some fun creatively. The 1st Bowman angle is obviously the big talking point, but if the inserts have some unique designs and concepts, that could really help give the product its own identity. Definitely going to be checking those out too

I think the NFL rookie cards will always be king as far as collectability goes, but there is still some room in the collection for cards of players for favorite college teams or the college cards of the players in the NFL.

Yeah just think about the Montana rookie. One of the most valuable of all the 80s big boys and it’s unlicensed
