Parallels, numbered (even high numbered haha), cool inserts of known names. I have found some vendors that give me a good deal if I buy a bunch from them. It’s mostly to fill my $5. People seem to like those!

Just did that today and found some decent stuff. Of course I veered into the $10 plus box, but made some good deals. Need to stick with the $10-$50 cards for a bit just to fill the cases. Today was a great start!

so what kind of markup you doing on the 10-50 dollar stuff? i know we all who sell try to make a profit. im just trying to learn more and if i ever do vend i think i want to have cards of that value out.

I’m very new to this, so keep that in mind. I try and stay as close to an average comp as possible, unless the last 3-5 sales show an uptick where I think it justifies a higher price. I know I don’t like going to tables and seeing cards crazy over comp, so I avoid that too.

whats your view on others who come up and do the whole checking ebay or market moers or card ladder?

Oh I’m okay with it. I check comps when I go to other tables. I tell people if they find something different, let me know and we can work something out. I mean if they are going off one weird sale, I wont negotiate off that. I’ll always listen to offers. As I’ve heard people say, it’s just cardboard, I won’t get offended.

ahh thats good and how i feel. i have heard of dealers who get bent out of shape for someone checking comps

Oh no, my expectation is someone will check comps. I have a few people who I’ve done deals with that won’t look as they know I am typically close to comp, but even then if I haven’t comped it in a while, I will look with them to make sure we are both going to be happy with the deal.

Yeah I try and keep my $5 box filled with actual $5 cards. I try and buy them in bulk so I can offer 3 for $12. I’ve done well so far. If someone finds a card in there that isn’t $5 I just work of the actual comp.

I hope I can keep finding them so I can give that deal, but it may get harder and harder.

Typically names that will move. Known players. I don’t want a $5 card where the person says “$5 for who?” Haha

thats true.. and sadly theres alot of thats who players.. or the positions that dont get talked about or much love since football seems to be qb focused and then next is wide recievers and running backs.

Yes no matter what, offense rules, unless you are a talent that can’t go unnoticed. Myles Garret has value or did before the trade. Caleb Downs seems to have a lot of value and a nice talent.

yeah but i remember hearing alot about defensive guys in the day. lynch, emmitt, reggie white and others. not everything seems offense driven

There is hope as we have seen some of the vets and legends get some love in the hobby, so that is going to make the value bin hunting even better!

I see those YouTube videos, and I know it’s probably for the video, where people buy boxes of $5-$10 cards for a deal to resell. I want to find those! Most value bins ($1-$10) have cards whose value is no where near the price, but I guess that’s part of the hunt! Have to dig to find the deals!

that it is and i think its cause you can go on other platforms to sell and ive seen 50 cent cards sell for over 5 bucks.

Yeah that is a consistent theme when you sell quickly. I also learned my lesson quickly when it came to the 15 second auctions haha I always wondered why everyone was paying so strong on the low end cards, but I get it now. Hey if people are paying, make that money! As long as the seller isn’t using scam tactics haha

oh i do understand it. it just gets frustrating when you see others getting it and im sitting here throwing my hands up. only thing i wont ever do is lie or scam someone on value of a card. if its low end and i get a couple dollars over ill take it. but i wont try and sell a 5 dollar card as if its a 50 dollar card.. i know how it feels to be burned.

Yeah when the seller is yelling “greatest card of the night, set your max.” That is the worst haha I could only find one person on whatnot that doesn’t yell haha I know it must be a sales tactic that works because almost everyone does it. Even people I watch on YouTube who are calm change their entire personality when the whatnot auction starts haha

yeah most of the big sellers and breakers all do this yelling and screaming and kind of talking down to those bidding cause the bids are lower. i get trying to make bank but come on.

The first time I went on Whatnot, I didn’t know what it was and this tactic, so I was definitely surprised. Haha I thought it was a funny/joke channel haha but hey it must work great, because 90% of the channels use the tactic. Lost me from whatnot, but they are making serious cash everyday, so respect the hustle haha

yeah nothing like scrolling to room after room sounding the same. but i dont mind some of the room and i go on to support others ive gotten to know. live selling is a great way to move things its just nerve racking for some.

Oh yeah I have a few that I follow and jump in every now and then. I can find a deal here and there. Sometimes I just watch and comp for only learning purposes.

same here. there slow enough to do that. those bigger ones doing 5 seconds dont give you time to try and check comps and then when you mention it they ban you
