• If there’s a lockout…effect on baseball card values?

It looks like there WILL be a lockout. What do y’all think the effect on baseball card values will be?

I wasn’t really paying attention last lockout so this one is interesting to me. I’ve read that team organizations have already told staff what kind of contact they can and can’t have with players. Like: They can’t send Christmas cards to players. But they can go to weddings they’re invited to.

i dont think that will mess with there card values to much. since its not someone getting injured. i do think there will be just the usually flux in value the whole up and down depending on the day. But we will see as i to dont know what happen during the last lockout with cards

So funny story. I last collected baseball cards in the early 90’s. Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, Jose Conseco, and Ricky Henderson were all still going strong. Then the strike happened in 1994 and it made me angry so I quit collecting. Still haven’t gone back to collecting baseball because I just haven’t followed it much since then. I have no idea who any of the players are anymore and just can’t bring myself to really pay any attention.

Obviously a lockout could be negative to some people in the same way. I think the card makers could choose to continue to make cards regardless and maybe it wouldn’t change the market too much on the supply side. But, I would think that the market would flatten out some if the players aren’t playing and their demand wouldn’t change much.
