What prices do you think these cards will bring???? Do you like having this as part of Draft Night?

I thought it was a fun part of the evening to see them sign the cards plus I was interested in the process so I’m sharing this from an article in The Athletic (photo is also from the article. If none of this is okay to share here just let me know):

PITTSBURGH — Jeremiyah Love took the newest NFL Draft on-stage tradition as seriously as he could, given the gravity and emotion of the moment on Thursday night. After he took the long walk down the hallway from the green room at Acrisure Stadium and the bro hug and photo op with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Topps pumped out a one-of-a-kind trading card for the new Arizona Cardinals running back in real time.

Love composed himself after his interview with ESPN’s Laura Rutledge and walked to a table to sign his Topps Now football card adding the inscription “My 1st NFL auto(graph).”

“So I tried to sign it the best that I could because it’s a special moment,” Love said. “It’s a once in a lifetime moment. So I took it all in and made sure that it was the best signature that I could possibly write.”

…There was no time for Topps to waste with a truly instant rookie card creation process. A Topps photographer would quickly snap a photo of the draftee. With four printers in tow, it took Topps about 90 seconds to create the card on the fly.

Fanatics Collectibles CEO Mike Mahan said Topps attempted about 40 dry runs of making the card in 90 seconds and still expected something to go wrong because, “It’s live television. You just roll with the punches.” Despite Mahan’s concerns, there seems to have been no hiccups with the process.

“I think from a production standpoint, it’s fun because it’s part of the broadcast and you really capture that moment of the players signing their first card,” Mahan said Thursday evening. “But also from a trading card perspective, you have these guys, the first time they’re now officially in the NFL, the first time they’re on a team and then signing that first card. It’s emotional. They’re doing it on TV as part of their draft moment. You’re inscribing ‘1st NFL card ever.’

“We are pushing the industry forward with cards as part of key moments in a player’s career. The NFL Draft is a massive moment in a player’s career. So now we have a way to be part of that moment.”

I think the price will be dependent upon their success during the season. It was still pretty cool to see them signing the cards though in real time. Debating on buying some of the topps now cards of the Cowboys draft picks just for a chance at the lottery to pull the 1/1.
