Collection regrets?
Do you have a big regret about something you’ve collected? Like a card you wish you hadn’t sold or a player you wish you hadn’t PCed? A buy you declined but wish you’d followed through on? Something else?
I’m not *quite* regretting PCing Strider but when I see him on the IL once AGAIN I wonder about his career. He broke records his rookie year but since then there’s injury after injury. He’s careful to take care of his body but it’s not keeping him off the IL. As y’all know, I have a BUNCH of Strider cards. (But hey, I can buy more at a reduced rate now with him hurt again lol)
My concern is that our human bodies can’t handle the stress of throwing 100mph with spin. I’m thinking if you’re collecting for value don’t collect pitchers. I’m watching Skenes and Misiorowski and those hard throwers and holding my breath. Can they throw that hard and avoid injury??
But that’s a tangent…back to the topic. Do you have a regret, something you wish you’d done differently? A card you got rid of or didn’t buy? Spent money to collect a player who didn’t pan out?
As someone at my local hobby shop told me “Pokemon don’t get hurt.” Maybe you collect TCG because of that!

It does suck when they gon on the IL list. but for pc cards i would say the value isnt whats important. obviously we all want there to be high value but unless your selling soon then the value is whatever.

Yeah I don’t worry about my PC. I was mostly using this as an example of maybe regrets. Do you have any?

ahh fair fair. and hmm at the moment cant say i do since i havent been back to collecting long. I have bought cards on the whim and not looked at value so probably that

I’d say you don’t really have regrets because you’re getting cards you want. That’s a good way to approach it!

oh for sure.. honestly at times i do buy things on a wim. havent really gotten things in the full sence of flipping. i know im doing some things wrong for the flip side of things. but its all good.

Sometimes whims end up really paying off

Just sold a 1/25 Elly rookie from cosmic chrome PSA 9. I wanted to treat my family to Star Wars Celebration next year so I parted with a few PC cards to pay for it

I’d say that’s a great trade off! A special expereince for your family is totally worth selling a card I’d say. Those memories will be lots more valuable in the big picture

In 2014 I bought every Giannis Rc on the Blowout Forums I could get. I had the NT True RPA /99 I only paid $1500 for. Sold it for about $2500 a few months later. I would like to replace it some day :/

Ahhh you always seem to remember these ones, I also look back and remember selling Todd Van Poppel and JD Drews for alot more than they are worth now haha

I sold my Ohtani chrome rookies last season and never bought back into him I wanted to keep one for pc but I couldn’t say no to the offers

Well i forgot i do have one collection regret and i already got rid of the couple cards. Wander Franco from the rays.

I didn’t buy any of his but was happy with a couple of rips. Not worth anything now. Same with Urias. Both guys messed up their lives big time
