Do you have your collectables protected?
Posted by wickedcustomzcards on July 24, 2026 at 6:27 pmSo anyone have there collectables and sports cards insured? Ive seen ads for a company that advertises they insure such things. Is anyone prepared in case something bad happens? Knock on wood nothing is going to happen..

I’m pretty sure my homeowner’s policy covers my collection. I might have an addition to the regular policy becasue I did talk with my agent about collectibles.

thats good to know.. i was curious about this of others. i need to look into it for myself

Now that you mention it I dont have them protected but wonder if thats something I should look into doing. Or like putting my more rare cards in a bank safety deposit box or something
-
id look into it.. just to make sure those kinds of things are covered like under your homeowners insurance and such. ive known people who have the rare or really expensive in a saftey deposit box. just would suck to have to go constantly to pull an item to show off and put back.. haha

Yeah if i put one in a safety deposit box id be annoyed constantly getting it lol but definately need to look at upping my renters insurance since I live on base

I plan on insuring this sketch card once it gets Autod by Hayden Christian and Ewan McGregor, authenticated and auto graded

who you gonna get it authenticated and graded by?

PSA, so it’ll get 3 auto authentications, (Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christian, and the Artist Ryan Finley his auto is on the back) Usually you never grade a sketch card because since it’s handled a lot by artist they aren’t usually in the best shape. But this was a blank 2015 Topps sketch card Ryan forgot he had and did a commission on it for me, so it’s not in bad shape and could possible get a 9 or 8 (incredibly rare for a sketch card) So if I can get 3 10 Autos and a sketch grade grade of 9 or 10 this one will be worth several thousand when its finished. Once Hayden and Ewan get older it’s going to be a 1/1 grail worth 5 figures
-
well if the sketch artist and others are good at what they do then the card should be pretty good then.. will be interesting to see what psa gives.. ive seen some cards sketch and non that they send back saying altered. not sure if thats mostly in reference to being trimmed or something else
-
Not sure about that we send in sketch all the time here. Customer just got a Palpatine sketch back that was grade 7 and Auto 10.
-
The auto grade is what I’m after. If the card can’t get at least a 8 I’ll only grade the autos instead. Definitely would want to do at least that though. It’s in person autos, getting that authentication is what makes those legit in the collecting world and giving it its value

This is a good reminder that I need to check my homeowner’s policy as I wouldn’t be surprised if I need an additional rider to cover the collectibles in the house.
-
good idea. i mean i know most policys cover your belongings but i am not familiar with how in depth they are with things. expecially if the value is high and there only gonna pay a percent
