Who is the NFL player you’re buying before the hype hits?
Posted by kyberforged on August 13, 2026 at 10:24 amWith the season getting closer, I’ve been thinking about which players could make a big jump this year.
Not necessarily the obvious Mahomes/Lamar/Allen guys—who’s your sleeper for a breakout season? Could be a QB, rookie, WR, RB, defender… whoever you think is about to make their cards a lot more interesting. 👀
Bonus points if you already have one in your PC. 😏

Honestly i think Mayfield is going to do something big this season. Even if the last season with the bucs cause they are playing games about contracts.

Here’s my 2026 buy low and hope high buys so far. Prices on football are rising the closer we get meaningful football.
Kyler Murray booklet/25
Darnold draft night used hat relic /15
Dart photo variation on red scope (color match)
Judkins/350 on card auto rated rookie
Joe Burrow 3/5 Orange and black refractor (color match)
Mayfield rookie /75
Still hoping to snag a low numbered Jayden Daniels but may be out of time lol

some nice cards and im sure youll find and daniels.

Stocking up on Dak and Jalen Hurts and trying to get some Nabers
-
That’s a pretty solid lineup. Dak and Hurts feel like the safer plays, but Nabers is the one I’d be most interested in if you can get in before he really takes off.

I think Cam Ward has a good year and I think some of his rookies are a bit undervalued due to being in the shadow of Nix and Maye.
I could see Kyler Murray cards getting a bit of a bump if he holds on to the starter position and does well.
I’m a fan of Tre Tucker for the Raiders and I’ve been quietly picking up autos and patches of his for a couple of years.
-
Yeah, I could definitely see all three getting interesting. Cam Ward especially feels like a guy who could benefit from being compared to Nix and Maye less. And I like the Tre Tucker call picking up autos and patches before everyone catches on is exactly how you want to do it.

A healthy Jamaar is helpful for sure and that o line needs to help him so he isnt fighting for hos life back there
-
If that fuo can stay healthy and a little help by the o line I’m not sure who is stopping them!
-
That really is it. Only thing stopping them is injuries. I mean look at their Super Bowl run that they had.

Not really a “before the hype hits” thing, but I do have a pretty nice Chase Brown collection. He played locally around me for the University of Illinois. Also, i think he is due for a solid outing this year. When Burrow is healthy, he has great numbers, both for the league and for Fantasy. I could see him getting a bump soon.
-
I actually like that kind of PC even more than a pure “buy before the hype” strategy. Having the local connection makes the Chase Brown cards mean something to you regardless of what the market does.
And I agree he could be an interesting one to watch. He already put up over 1,000 rushing yards and 69 catches last season, and his production really took off once Burrow was back

Love chase brown you can get his numbered autos for like $10-_20 dollars definitely loading up before he balls out this year!
