• What do you think this gold/yellow is on this relic card??

I zoomed so you can see it better. I’ve looked at others on ebay and none so far have this. Any ideas??

It’s not separate threads. More like a dye. Pic of the entire card for perspective.

I wonder about that but it’s an arc and that patch isn’t.

could be stiching or over time getting dirty or could be the glue they use

Hmmm glue might be the answer. Now to see what they glue on that has an arc shape

I was thinking sleeve too. I knew what you meant but didn’t express it well. I didn’t think about glue but I bet they use it a lot instead of sewing

noo they sew the other layers but since its part of a jersey they took it apart since it would be a thick patch

but it could be anything maybe even part of the material. i would say if you could inspect it more.

Could also be what typically happens to white fabric, yellowing.

The yellowing IS following the arc of the card design. So maybe it’s happening after the card was made. But why only the edge?? and only one edge??

Yeah, that’s the part that makes me question simple yellowing too. If it were just the fabric aging, I’d expect more random discoloration rather than following the exact curve of the card design.

The fact that it’s concentrated along one edge makes me wonder if something during production or storage is causing it. Definitely an interesting one to figure out.
