2026 Flagship Football — Who Are You Buying?
Topps Flagship Football is finally back, and after more than a decade without a true licensed flagship football set, I’m curious how everyone is approaching it.
There are obviously some big rookie names to chase, but I’m actually more interested in the players people think are going to be the sneaky buys.
Are you chasing the big rookies like Fernando Mendoza, Jeremiyah Love, Ty Simpson and Carnell Tate? Or are you looking at established players where the flagship cards are finally getting the full Topps treatment again?
And what are you actually buying — base rookies, Golden Mirrors, the 1957 Rookie Variations, numbered parallels, autos, relics, or one of the SSPs?
I’m especially curious who everyone thinks will be the “why didn’t I buy him when these were cheap?” player from this set.

I am going to be buying Caleb Downs who I feel like people are sleeping on just cause hes on the Cowboys and their defense has been awful lately

nothing like an auto and not familiar with that player.

He was one of the best safetys/corners in college the last two years and the Cowboys essentially won the draft by picking him

have no clue who im buying from it.. obviously id want some bucs and other players.. theres also a player from the cowboys yes the cowboys thats hoping to be a starter and is the first Navaho to sign with the nfl..

I’m kicking myself for not getting into the launch break. There was a Derrick Brooks Super Bowl auto in it. On card. Was so cool!

I’ve really had a hard time getting into modern football since 2024. If anything, I’ll probably keep my eye out for legendary players and former greats to see how Topps incorporates them into their case hits and other offerings.. Not a ton of new guys really move the needle for me.

finally found some in the wild. one of my local targets finally had some blasters and what i think are mega boxes.. i got a mega box.. hoping for at least one good pull..

Of course, I want to buy the Raiders players and Mendoza in particular, but most of those are priced right out of my market. It’s sort of ridiculous at the moment. I’m hoping that they go down some after a few other sets are released and I can at least pick up the base for lower prices.

My shop has been trying to make break configs that make them more affordable. It got out of control last season with Dart. I think right now we have a 2 Hobby 2 Jumbo and the Raiders are $140

yeah, and the price tag for that sort is really a barrier to me. Just a lot of money to drop and not know what you’re going to get out of it. Should get something, but hard to tell what sort of return. I like the ones I can get into for $30-$40, but most of those don’t seem to be PYT and I end up spending too much when I chase on the wheel.

Yeah we got teams as low as that but it’s always hard when your PC team has a big rookie. Last year I couldn’t ever get the Bucs in a break because of Emeka, now my Reds are pricey because of Sal Stewart lol

Yeah, for sure. I don’t remember any of the breaks for the Raiders being so high last year even with Jeanty. But, yeah, the #1 pick and a QB is about as big as it gets.

Yeah, absolutely. Jeanty had a ton of hype last year, but a No. 1 overall pick who happens to be a QB is basically the perfect recipe for expensive breaks.
