• What’s On Your Football Tailgate Menu?

Posted by kyberforged on August 23, 2026 at 11:34 am

Football season is almost here, so forget the cards for a minute… what are we eating? lol

Everybody has that one tailgate food they think is mandatory. Wings? Burgers? Brats? Pulled pork? Nachos? Chili? Somebody bringing the crockpot full of something that has been cooking since 7 AM?

I’m curious what everyone’s ideal tailgate spread looks like.

And I need to know: what’s the ONE food that if it isn’t at the tailgate, you’re disappointed?

Bonus points for the weird regional stuff that someone outside your area would look at and say, “What the heck is that?” lmao🤣

So I do ribs or crock pot pulled pork. I also do bacon wrapped jalapenos from time to time and this year gonna add a seafood boil to the menu. Texas Longhorn fan over here for college and Dallas for NFL

Now THAT is a tailgate spread!!!!Ribs, pulled pork, bacon-wrapped jalapeños AND a seafood boil? You’re basically running a restaurant out of the parking lot.

The seafood boil is an awesome addition too. And Texas Longhorns + Dallas makes the football lineup pretty easy to get behind. 🤘🏈

I might have to steal the bacon-wrapped jalapeños idea for my next tailgate. That sounds dangerously easy to eat about 47 of. lmao

Yeah I hate that tailgateing is not a thing in the PNW so now I just pick one of those to do for a gameday watch party

That’s still a pretty solid spread! And honestly, I like the “different menu every game” approach. Keeps the tailgates from turning into the same meal every weekend.

Sliders, wings, potato salad, chips and drinks is already enough to make me forget there’s supposed to be a football game happening.

Now I’m curious what the special occasion tailgate menu looks like when you really decide to go all out.

Y’all have some nice spreads. As long as someone else is cooking I’m happy with whatever!!

I’m wondering though if Skyline Chili is a tailgate food? It would be for me! I’m a big fan

Think of a kind of mostly savory, with a little sweet meat sauce

I think it’s really good! But plenty of folks say it’s not even chili. I think there are no rules as to what is and isn’t chili. Texans say no beans. Beans, spaghetti, I’m not picky—give me all of the versions!

Yeah as a native Texan chili should not have beans at all lol

I like both ways. I barely considered Cincinnati style actually chili and that’s no disrespect to it it just is enjoyed more as a sauce than in a bowl with a spoon. I can’t go to a Reds or Bengals game without getting a Skyline Dog lol

Does a dog have spaghetti? Surely not, just the meat sauce?

I’m not sure what I actually prefer. Depends on my mood. I like all of the versions folks have mentioned
