Is the hobby getting TOO big?
The more I look around lately, the more I wonder about this.
We’ve got Pokémon pulling in massive crowds, million-dollar cards becoming more common, 90s sports cards making huge comebacks, celebrities getting involved, businesses treating cards like serious collectibles, and now even digital ripping platforms trying to change how we buy and open cards.
And I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing. More people getting into the hobby is a good thing. More collectors means more shows, more shops, more products and more people to share the hobby with.
But I do wonder if we’re reaching a point where the hobby starts changing faster than collectors can keep up with.
Do you think all this growth is GOOD for the hobby?
Or do you think we’re starting to lose some of what made collecting fun in the first place?
I’m genuinely curious where everyone lands on this one.
