Plan vs No Plan
Posted by quackcab69 on March 28, 2026 at 11:55 amDoes everyone make a plan when they go to card shows as attendees or do you just go with the flow so to speak? Just curious to hear thoughts. I personally like to have a game plan when doing things of this nature.

i think with card shows it can sometimes be hard to set a plan. other then going with just a set amount of cash and not going over budget. Or if your looking for certain things specifically then you focus on that and then go back to the other things that are outside of what you went for.
If its first time or first few shows i would say go with no plan and just walk the place and get a feel for things. Its what ive been told to do by others.

Gotcha. Budget is definately a plan cause not trying to get too crazy.
-
fair.. plus i would think what you ultimatly are wanting to get if anything and set your budget on that.. I think my first show local im going with 100 and getting what i can for that. between some cards to resell for profit and pc.

Yeah thats what we are going with. $100 to get some stuff for myself and the kids plus hopefully win some giveaways the show is doing lol
-
thats cool. hope you and especially the kids have fun..

Yeah with the kids itll definately be an adventure cause they normally are in a wagon but wagons arent allowed so its gonna be interesting

My Personal strategy is the first part of my typical show day starts with me walking around with a Case of stuff I’m willing to and want to sell/trade …usually go thru all my stuff the night b4 and build that case up.
But after you go around for a little scoping out what people got in there showcase do a bit of selling and seeing peoples % offer on trades and kinda grow your budget and if you see something that’s over Budget in cash start working it down with sum stuff in that case to trade

Might do something similar to this. I have 1 gem mint 10 psa julio rodriguez card that wouldnt upset me to let go of. And being close to Seattle i dont think id have a hard time getting it traded or sold.

I usually try to have some kind of plan to follow. I realize if I don’t, then I get kind of lazy and don’t put in the effort I should. Generally, I end up having to change the plan depending on the flow of the show.
-
Yeah I spent the work day yesterday looking up shops to see what they would have and ran into a veteran owned card shop I want to stop by and just may go with the flow after that
-
sounds like a good plan.. for me i know shows can be overwhelming. heck i go to disney and still have that feeling. but i know for things like that i would rather not go alone. if i cant meet up with someone or get someone to go then ill more than likely back out
-
Yeah we are going as a family just to see if my kids will be able to handle the crowds and if not then may just be a me and my wife thing
-
fair and makes since to test the waters. especially if you cant take wagon. or not sure the age of the kids but strollers could be an option for these kinds of events. i guess depends on what they allow in and not.
