• Q Seeking advice for getting the right size magnetic case for thicker cards

Posted by KJXploR on March 29, 2026 at 1:48 pm

I’m trying to get the right size magnetic holders but it’s hit and miss so far. What’s an easy way to know? Or what’s a good online resource to help me order the right size?

I just got a delivery and was sure I’d ordered the right sizes…but for a couple of cards I was wrong. I’m like Cinderella with some cases too thick and some not thick enough and hardly any just-right ones. I don’t want to keep spending money on the wrong size cases. I’ve looked at what points cards in certain sets are, but I have a couple of cards that don’t match what I found online.

This card in particular is a challenge. I thought a 180-point case would work. Nope! Too small. It’s one of my favorite cards and I’d like to have it better protected (and looking nice) in a magnetic case

If the budget allows, I usually try to order a few of each and/or have some of every size on hand. That way you are set regardless of the card size. It’s hard to know what size you will need when you don’t have the card on hand.

That’s what I was trying to do but didn’t get enough variety. I’m thinking I might need to go to my local hobby shop with the cards in question and try them with some mag cases there

If the 180 is too small I think the next size up is a 260pt

I bet you’re right. I didn’t know they came bigger than 180 but they pretty much have to. I’m learning
