Love the cards, especially the Maddux. Makes me wonder if HE likes having a cool card like that of him.
-
I dont know about Maddux but have seen videos of players getting gifted cards of themselves and they genuinely look pretty happy and shocked about it
-
I’ve read about some. I do wonder about Maddux himself. He’s hard to read! But he has a wicked sense of humor
-
I think this speaks well of him: Back when the Braves first went to Turner Field I took my 60-something year old GIANT Maddux fan friend to see him play. She would tape his games and rewatch every single pitch. We got there super early to watch him warm up and I took some photos. She enlarged one and sent it to him asking for an autograph. And he DID autograph it and send it back!! She really values that photo now in her 90s. So I know he’s a good guy to have signed that pic for her.
-
Yeah its rare to hear of athletes that refuse to give autographs. Only time Ive heard of it happening is when they are with families or super busy.
-
I’ve sent fan letters to a handful of Braves players and included one of their base cards (nothing they should think I’m trying to make money on) asking for an auto. I included pens for the auto and stamped, packaged return mailers. All they’d have to do is open the package, take the pen that’s in the package and sign the card and put it in the addressed, stamped mailer. I have yet to get one back.
-
Thats insane. I know it sometimes takes a while but dont know when you sent them out.
-
I feel sure my cards and pens and all went to the garbage with a bunch of other requests. I sent them during spring training when they had more time, too
-
i know this use to be more of a thing back in the day. i hear some still do it today but i wonder how many except cards in the mail for an auto on it now

you know thats a great topic.. i also wonder if theres certain cards that got or get created that athletes or those on them really dont like but cant do much about
-
My theory is that whoever picks the photos sometimes picks bad angles for some athletes they don’t like. Like in basball a weird follow through after a swing. If I were the players I wouldn’t be happy with some of the photos!

Very nice cards as usual! Can never go wrong with vintage cards!
