This is a great pick up! It’s so much fun to find things we had as kids. You KNOW I’d be opening it though. I’ve gotten Funko Pop Pokemon figures and immediately opened them and put them on a shelf right in front of where I sit. The part of me that says “this might appreciate if you leave it in the box unopened” loses out to the part that says “yeah but you bought this to enjoy it.”

So what rookie are you thinking will have the staying power for a big investment now? Any of the Reds rookies going to be BIG stars? And is Elly going to light things up in the coming years? I thought he’d be in the running for MVP by now.

In this case I’m going with the sketch and it would be framed and on my wall where I can look at it. Yes you can also display a card but it’s too small for me to enjoy like a larger piece of art.
I’m curious about which costs the most and hold value best (at least currently). Which is it?

In the new sets who knows?? There are SO many numbered cards now. It depends on which of my PC I’m buying but I’ve seen even /25 be pretty inexpensive. Now that I’m thinking about it if I’m being honest most of the time it’s whether I like the color of the card or whether it’s part of a set of parallels I’m trying to get. I’ve gotten /5 and /10 in breaks and surprisingly they weren’t worth that much more than the base cards.
Good question for helping me narrow my focus in my collecting! Thanks!
What’s the number for you? And how did you arrive at that?

In the last 6 months my answer has gone from D to A because I’ve narrowed my focus to a handful of athletes. My Pokemon focus is also on a handful but I add full art cards of a big variety of Pokemons if I like the artwork. I’d go for a $500 auto of one of my PC athletes (or a Caitlin numbered rookie card) or a $500 Umbreon.
Which would YOU choose? Why?

Mine is also Pokemon. I bought a Tepig on a whim at a card show and now it’s one of my favorites. I keep looking at a Tepig full art I really like but keep telling myself it’s too expensive. So far I’ve resisted….

The storylines are really interesting. And in real life certain decisions push us one way or the other. That’s why I think people enjoy these comics and movies. They’re fictionalized (and more interesting) versions of things we might think about. How life could have turned out a total another way for us. I wasn’t familiar with the Marvel universe until the movies and loved what the writers had done with mythology.
