Bo Jackson Battle Arena Tecmo Bowl

Have you ripped any? I’ve gotten a few spots in some breaks and done OK. (ebay sales pending, of course) I managed to get the alt art 8-bit Howietzer (Howie Long is one of my PC) so I was pretty chuffed about that.

I’ve got a hobby box that I might try and set up a break for on whatnot and see how it goes. As much as I’d like to just rip it and try and sell it, I think the more guaranteed payout is likely the better way to go and just grin and bear it if I rip something nuclear.

Anyone else find anything cool in Tecmo Bowl?

I ripped some at National last year but the Tecmo set definitely scratches that nostalgia itch

For sure. This Tecmo set is by far my favorite of the sets they’ve come out with. Just really good art in general, but also really nice inserts.

That’s fun. I might have to check it out. Most of all our loves for cards is all about that nostalgia factor

There’s a ton of chase cards. Parallels all over the place. Much like anything else, it makes the common bulk and even the common foil worth little to nothing unless you’re building decks to play the game. And the rare parallels are hard to get ahold of and hard to rip in packs. The boxes are on the high end (about 550 retail on a hobby, but 750 or more on ebay) so it makes it super expensive to try and rip your own leaving you to decide if you want to try and jump in to get lucky on your chase in a break.

Breaks are somewhat fun cause you get to see the cards that come out of the boxes without (hopefully) paying full price for the box. But you also get skunked a lot. The break I ran the other day had 133 hero spots in it. There were at least 2 of the buyers who didn’t even get any common cards for their spot. I threw some stuff in for them, but how much of a bummer is that?

I just reread this and it sounds super negative. It’s not. It’s just the state of the hobby I think. The cards are fun, the art is pretty good, and I really enjoy some of the alts. The “Skyline” cards are super cool as are the 8-bit alt arts. And the hobby boxes have a guaranteed auto in every box, so that’s some of the pricing on those. I do hope they release some blaster boxes that the average collector can drop 50 on and get some packs though.

no worries. honestly the way the hobby is right now between sports and tcg theres alot of negative with it.. Its all about the hype and suspense and high dollar then the kid just getting a pack and that chance of a lifetime pulling something awesome. Alot of us adults are ruining it for kids. But not everyone is.. Some of us are still trying to do the right thing even when trying to run a buisness and have fun.

well as a breaker thats great of you to still send the skunked people something. i know with breaking the buyer is suppose to get something no matter and if i was breaking id find a way to send those who get skunked something to seem ok.. i know that cant be the case everytime and well buying into a break is like the lottery. your hoping to win something. and yeah i seen the pricing for the product and still was like shesh. i know if i want to get any of the better hits im gonna have to get hobby someday of any product

I was gonna buy a couple boxes then saw the price tag and may just end up trying my luck at breaks

Yeah. With the last set, they had blaster boxes at about $55. So far I haven’t seen any of those for this set. The Double Mega’s are an OK buy without the guaranteed auto and you get a fair amount of product. But, the stock is so limited that almost nobody sells by the pack anymore and when they do it’s like 15 a pack for the double mega packs when there’s likely only about 3 worth of resale in the pack unless you hit something big.
