Closing out summer with a Caitlin Clark auto!
For three years I thought a Caitlin auto was out of my price range. But this summer I decided since I’m narrowing my PC a lot why not shoot for one? Life is short.
Condensed version of a long story: I was very surprised to win an eBay auction for this card with a bid of less than half of what I came up with for comps. An auto with a jersey swatch (my current obsession) and numbered 11/25.
It was still a bigger financial outlay than I wanted so I sold a bunch of my cards last week to my local hobby shop. And came up with almost exactly the same amount of money as my auction-winning bid.
I’m closing August and summer with a kind of grail card. Not a specific one card I was chasing but a specific athlete nonetheless. Today was an especially fun mail day!

Heck yeah.. sweet card and getting it for less then half of what you saw for comps is always great. you gonna send to be graded or just put in one of those zion mags?

No grading for me! A Zion mag is where it is right now and where it will stay

dont blame yeah.. sometimes cards are best not graded

I don’t think this type card grades well. And I like being able to take it out of the case and not be looking at the colors through plastic. Talking with y’all on this site has helped me realize I’m collecting just for me…not for flipping or trying to get a big return. And I like being able to see the colors on cards. So I might not be getting anything else in a slab. Looking at cards through plastic isn’t as gratifying as being able to take a card out and see it the way it came out of the pack.

oh thats for sure understandable. slabs do take away from the colors and effects some on certain cards for sure

Beautiful card man! Would love to have one like it. I don’t have a killer CC in my PC yet. I have her Bowman Chrome 1st Pink Refractor in a PSA 10, but nothing on that level. Congrats!

The one you have is probably worth more. But I wanted an auto and love a swatch card. And the illustration in this one is nice too. The colors look odd together but I don’t mind at all

That’s a huge get! Great looking card too. I think that’s what it’s all about; finding those cards that really belong in the PC and being able to add them. Great find!

I didn’t really think about it until a moment ago. Do the Fever have a blue/yellow uniform? Or is that a collegiate swatch on the pro card?

Oddly yes!! It’s primarily navy and is called the “Explorer.” The white version is called “Heroine” and has the same colors as the Explorer. But the Rebel edition is what most of us think of when we think of the Fever. It’s the primary red one. The whole time I’ve thought it weird that the two darker Fever uniforms look so different from each other. Almost like two different teams!

And I do think the card looks weird with the two colors but I’m a fan of weird lol

Yeah, it just makes it feel a bit weird because the picture is in the red/white uniform.

That made me hesitate but it also might have put the card into a category where I could pull off the purchase. And I do like weird combos of colors

That is a cool card for sure! Definately is going to be a great card for the PC for a long time.
