    A lot of people don’t realize football cards go back WAY further than most think.

    The first ones were made in <strong data-start=”210″ data-end=”218″>1894 by <strong data-start=”222″ data-end=”263″>Mayo Cut Plug—they were actually inserts in tobacco products, not packs like today.

    👉 They featured college players (no NFL yet) and were simple black & white cards.

    <strong data-start=”424″ data-end=”444″>Quick breakdown:

    <ul data-start=”445″ data-end=”606″>

  • 1894 = first football cards ever (Mayo Cut Plug)
  • Later on = companies like <strong data-start=”526″ data-end=”567″>Topps made it into the hobby we know today
  • <hr data-start=”608″ data-end=”611″>

    Crazy to think this all started from tobacco promos and turned into what we’re all into now.

    Anyone here ever seen one of these in person? 👇

      Thanks for the information I didn’t know that although I’m more interested in the modern cards. I just feel like vintage football is boring
