I like Topps Now record cards BUT are they worth grading?
Posted by KJXploR on April 25, 2026 at 5:22 pmHere are a couple of cards I wonder about. I know Topps Now doesn’t give much return on investment. I likely wouldn’t send to PSA but think a slab would be nice for my Acuna PC so I might send to another, less expensive grading company.
Bottom line: Is it worth spending the money for grading for cards like this? Not numbered or anything special beyond the record that the player set

Thats a question I was wondering about as well. Cause I’ve bought a few packs of various topps now in hopes of a numbered one. Debating sending one to PSA in case the player grows in popularity and one to Degree Grading for my PC

I don’t think there’s a big general market for the Topps Now BUT it seems to me that some collectors would want cards that involve records. A numbered card would make a big difference I’m sure, and I never got lucky with anything numbered on a record card. I quit ordering them a couple of years ago (well, and the Braves haven’t been breaking records like they did that one year!)

I agree. Most topps now that I grabbed I got for my PC and for friends that I know are fans of the same team as me. Gonna send my personal kept card to degree to grade just so I have it in a slab but have no intention of flipping the cards

That’s what I’m trying to decide. Do I really want to spend money on grading for my PC? Especially cards that aren’t “special” to me. Probably not unless I REALLY like the look of the Degree slab
-
Yeah I like the slabs from Degree but I get the process of getting PC graded. I dont mind it cause Degree always does monthly specials. I also read in the Degree facebook page I am in that they are going to introduce black carbon slabs later this year. Which would be cool getting to pick which slab to get

so many people do it for base so why not.. if your pcing it then i say do it. like you said you can use a less expensive grader.

I think I’m going to send at least one Acuna card in this intro set to Degree and see what kind of grade it gets. I may send a total variety of cards in part to see how different sets seem to grade. And only send cards I pulled myself because I know I’ve been careful in handling them
-
nothing wrong with doing that. i should have done that with my first order to degree. i should have sent in like one from each sport and different style card and even a tcg card to see how and if gradding would be different
-
This comment is helping me decide. I think a complete variety is going to be what I do
-
I think thats a great way to go.. Like i said i should have done that. My next one im doing that

I’m about to apply the advice from Mike’s video to see which of the cards I’ve narrowed it down to are in the best shape. How long have you been collecting seriously? You have a lot of knowledge.
-
yeah me too. and honestly only a year now.. i did as a kid but life and other things i wasnt collecting or really following sports. and then i came across a bin that had alot of my old cards in it and that was it. And thank you for that.. I just try to pass along things ive learned from others and im real good with asking google haha..
-
Thats exactly how I ended up back in the game. Old footlocker that had all of my old cards in it and the ember reignited.
-
I was pleasantly surprised when I came across some of my old cards from the 1990s. Nothing worth anything but it was fun to see what I’d gotten back then. I’m much more into it now though. Probably because I have more time AND money

so to answer if topps now are worth grading i been hearing more about others sending topps now cards in for grading and they seem to get high gem rates. so if that is the case then for sure worth grading. course with grading theres two reasons. is it for pc and not too worried about the grade or is it to flip and obviously want a 9 or 10. expecially for modern cards. vintage can have lower grades and sell for big money on the right player
-
I sent 2 to Degree and should get them back sometime in July. I’m really interested to see how they grade. One is an Acuña so might ultimately have more value. I’ll sell my Acuñas quicker than I will the Strider and Harris cards which are more meaningful to me

At this point might just grade my Spurs topps now card i have and wait for them to show up eventually with PSA and send tondegree as well
-
If they could come back and win the whole thing those cards might really hold value over time. I’m rooting for that to happen!
-
I am too but I also know if they dont theyre gaining key experience for such a young team that it’ll all come together soon
