• More Star Wars Celebration Auto Canvases

Posted by kyberforged on September 2, 2026 at 11:34 am

Just got this /10 xfractor shadowbox. It’s the layers concept art set. Doug Chaing has done pretty much all the concept art from the Prequels to The Mandalorian and Grogu. I’m going to get him to sign this Pod racer Layers card. The auto will be so cool because it’ll add to the shadow box effect to the auto and leave a shadow from the auto also

That shadowbox effect is definately sweet for sure! The auto would really add to it!

Yeah that’s going to be the fun part of the shadowbox. The pods and chariot are raised over the background on acetate. So the shadow that the pods and chariot leave on the background, Doug’s signature will do the same.

Where will you be able to get his signature? At a show?

I am lucky enough to get to go to Star Wars Celebration in April. They don’t have one every year so they usually hard to get tickets for but this one especially being the 50th anniversary of Star Wars.

Won’t get an argument from me! Here’s the story that tells you just how old I am. It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore years of college right after Star Wars, yes the original, was released. I thought the movie was fabulous! It was a totally new type of movie. The stereo sound, the AMAZING technology of the scrolling text. And add the space setting, the storyline—I loved it all. I wanted to share it with my father so I took him. I was engrossed even on the second viewing, and about half way through the movie I looked over, sure he was as impressed as I was. Only to see…

He was sound asleep. Not a stir. 😂

So there’s a rumor that during celebration they are going to have multiple showing of the original cut of A New Hope from Mann’s Chinese Theater. So the original cut, of the original movie, in the original premiere theater, on the 50th Anniversary of its release

Wow. I hope it’s accurate. I bet it is. Do you remember seeing your first Star Wars movie?

Do you remember which movie you saw first? And was it at home or in the theater?

It was a new hope, rented by my mom from a video store in the late 80s lol

I was guessing it was at home. I’m just now realizing the format we saw our first movies in is different generationally because of technology. Seeing movies on the big screen in a theater has different impact than seeing it on your TV in your house. But I know plenty of people whose very favorite movie and the one that had big impact they first saw on a TV. And now you can have basically the theater experience at home. But it’s not the same as going out of the house to a movie. That’s more of an “occasion.” And now you can share your favorites with your kids in an almost-theater setting at home.

Yeah unfortunately with most bigger signers in both sports and non sports they are behind a curtain and you aren’t allowed to do pictures or anything
