• Nice Card Show experience this weekend

There was a pretty solid card show in Bloomington, Il this past weekend. Event was held inside of a Hockey Rink, which was pretty cool (pun intended). Really nice show with almost all sports. Not a ton of Pokemon, which is nice for someone not really into that. Took my wife and daughter and we all came away with some cool additions to our PCs.

I made a pretty sizeable trade for a Tom Brady rookie and also picked up several items while at the show. My wife founds some cool Disney and Tv show cards she was happy to pick up. The Daughter picked up a few historical figures and also a couple of Set worn prop cards from big bang theory.

That sounds like an awesome family card-show day. And a card show inside a hockey rink is pretty perfect — a cool show in a cool venue. I’ll allow the pun.

A sizeable trade for a Tom Brady rookie is a pretty serious pickup too. I’d love to see what you ended up trading for it.

But honestly, my favorite part is that everyone came away with something for their own PC. Your wife finding Disney and TV cards, and your daughter grabbing historical figures plus Big Bang Theory game-worn prop cards is such a cool mix

For the Brady trade, I traded away a Shaq 1993 Scoring Kings in a PSA 8 ($1,800) and a Shaq N-Tense PSA 9 ($700) for a 2000 Fleer Metal Tom Brady RC in a PSA 8 ($,2000) + $230 cash. About $170 in his favor overall, but an easy trade for me. The Brady is gorgeous and under valued in my mind and I came up about 10X or more on my Shaqs from what i paid.

That’s actually a really interesting trade because on paper you gave up a little value, but I completely understand why you made it.

The 2000 Fleer Metal Brady RC in PSA 8 is the kind of card I’d rather have sitting in my collection than two Shaqs I’m already way up on. And if you’re right that the Brady is undervalued, you may have gotten yourself into something with some serious upside.

The other part I love is that you essentially turned $250-ish worth of Shaq cards into roughly $4,500 of value through appreciation, then rolled that into a Brady while still getting cash back. That’s a pretty damn good collecting journey.

Yeah, there are only a few decent Brady Rookies with a decent pic of him in a Patriots Jersey. The Bowman is the main one, and those are getting pretty unattainable. This one looks nice and is due to keep rising imo. There is an emerald variant that I would love to have.

Hey sometimes you gotta give a little to get what your really wanting.. And as for it being pc then i think overspending sometimes is well worth it.

No, still a cardboard card, but it has a metallic effect that covers the front, so it kinda sparkles in the light.
