I don’t use any kits or substances. Ya pulling a card with a dimple is just tough luck unfortunately.

Is there a particular source of light you use or does a regular desk lamp work to inspect the surface of the cards?

Really just any bright light from amazon. All of my are LED now but I use to use a regular screw in bulb kind with no issues.

Thanks a bunch! I find this super helpful. And the timing is great because I’m just about to send my first set where I decide myself. Last time I asked for advice at my hobby shop.

This is the kind of thing I was hoping to learn at this site. I really appreciate having your insights.

Excellent to hear! Let me know if you have any questions when reviewing. One of the best ways to learn is to review the card yourself and take notes of any potential issue. Then, submit and see what you get! Then you will have a better idea of what to send and what not to send next time.

Thanks! Yes, this first submission will be a good experiment to see how well I can choose cards likely to get high grades. I know it’s something you can develop an eye for. Or I’d expect it would be

Yep its a fun process but unfortunately can get expensive if you don’t get the grades you want.

This experiment may not last long. If I don’t get the grades I’m hoping for it will be a short run! I do keep thinking it’s best to buy graded cards. Is that what you do?

I do both. I send a handful of cards about each month to PSA.

I bet you find you’re mostly accurate in your assessment of the cards you send. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us here
