The Non-Sports Boom is Here
Looks like Non-sports is the next big frontier in the hobby, or at least the most recent flavor of the month. After seeing how much more there was at this year’s national compared to just year ago, and the buzz around it, I tend to think it’s not just a current short lived hype cycle. Some stuff is a bit over valued it seems at the moment, but I think this is due to a large number of people pushing into the space. Almost every youtube creator has been talking about the non-sports hy lately and to be honest, it seems like a really fun lane of the hobby.
Any non-sports focused collectors? What are your thoughts on the current state of non-sports collecting? What do you think will be the next big breakout in that category?
I recently went and picked up a few copies of the 1969 Neil Armstrong 54b Man on the moon card. I think it has a lot of room to grow, especially with the talk of a Mars mission in the future and the advancements being made by Space X, Space force, and the even the recent launch of Artemis II.

It’s healthily rising in the Hobby. I love non sports especially Star Wars. With recent sales off the 77 Luke for several mill and a 23 Vader super just went for $43k. It’s growing fast. 26 Galaxy values are definitely proof of that

With the unfortunate passing of Dolly Parton (RIP), i looked to see if she had a “rookie card” and it turns out she did. There was a 1967 deck of Heather Country Music playing cards that featured her on the 2 of Spades and is considered to be her first trading card. Prices were insane and several sold in the immediate aftermath of the announcement for well over $1,000. Thanks to manipulating some search terms, I was able to find the entire deck of cards still int he original box for $150. Looking forward to it’s arrival as there are several other icons featured in the deck such as Johnny Cash.

Dolly’s passing got me thinking about other icons that might be worth researching their “rookie” trading cards. I picked up a early Lucille Ball, a Princess Diana, and a few more 1969 Apollo cards of Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to go with the Neil Armstrongs I picked up the other day.
