Tim Duncan Finally Getting the Respect He Deserves
A 1997 SkyBox Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Emerald /100 sold for $330,645 through Heritage, setting a new record for a Duncan card. And it wasn’t even a 1/1 — it was numbered 004/100. It also beat his previous solo-card record of $228K.
What really caught my attention is that this is another example of 90s basketball finally getting the respect a lot of collectors have been predicting for years. Jordan and Shaq have been getting plenty of attention, and now you’ve got Duncan putting up a $330K sale.
It makes me wonder who the next guy is…..
Iverson? Barkley? Garnett? Maybe even some of the 90s basketball inserts that are still surprisingly affordable compared to their football and baseball counterparts?

I could definitely see Iverson being next. His cultural impact is massive, and he has that combination of on-court greatness, personality, and nostalgia that tends to make a player’s cards age really well
