Value low numbered cards
Posted by lesagecollectibles on September 30, 2026 at 11:46 pmHow do you guys value low numbered cards that don’t have any sales? I just picked up this 2017 Judge Patch /25. I can’t find any sales on the /25 so it’s hard to value. I am tempted to just keep it, but I’d still like to get the value so I can sell if that time comes.

The mag is scratched not the card. The card is mint.

Thank you very much, this helps a lot! I paid strong on it ($300) but it’s because I wanted the card, but it’s nice to see I could get $400 on the high end. Thanks again! So I’ll just reference other similar cards with the same numbering going forward.

I usually start with the closest comparable sale I can find — same player, same year, same product, and ideally another serial-numbered patch — then adjust from there based on how low the numbering is and how desirable the card is.
With something like a Judge /25 that has no direct sales, I’d look at the /50 and /99 versions first and use those as an anchor rather than just guessing based on the /25 scarcity. Then I’d check what other Judge patch cards from the same era are actually selling for.
And honestly, if you just picked it up and you already want to keep it, I’d track the comps but not force a value on it. Sometimes the lack of sales is a sign that there simply aren’t many changing hands.

Thank you for the advice and process you use, this helps a lot! I am going to hang on to it and track sales like you said. It’s tough because it’s /25. I like the card so it’s not going to break my heart to have it hang around for a while haha

Thanks for asking this and for the responses. I like seeing the process y’all use. I’m learning a lot. That’s a big reason I really enjoy this site

I agree! You never run out of things to learn and even though you know something learning someone’s method that may be different helps a lot. I have the same story as most of you here. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pay a monthly fee for the site, but I am glad I did.
-
I’d happily pay a monthly fee to other sites if they’d get rid of the ads and have the timeline be straightforward like this one. I hope we can keep this site growing so they can keep it running. This month has been encouraging with new folks high up on the leaderboard.

Yeah it is nice to see some new people on the board and the combination of friendly knowledgeable people and the giveaways, the engagement should always be top notch.

Thank you very much! I appreciate the info and you taking the time to search those comps.

no problem! It’s kind of a fun exercise, plus I pay for full access to comps through market movers, so might as well take advantage of it, lol.
-
Okay so you Market Movers. How do you like that app compared to the others out there?

also, I don’t see a public sale of any kind for this card and there is no record in PSA of any sales either. Could be a good opportunity to get a Pop 1 early mahomes /10
-
I don’t know if I am going to grade cards. Too long of a wait and too much money. I will happily sell cards to people and let them grade them. haha I think I already have someone interested in the Mahomes card. Thanks again everyone for your help.

That’s a nice card! I would for sure look to find some other Obsidian cards of Mahomes that are /10 that sold recently and go from there. Or, the same card but not /10 and then try to add a multiplier.
-
thats what i was thinking.. been told that if you cant find your card to find other players simular and try to price based on there recent average sales
-
Yep there are a lot of methods. I think it just depends on what comps are current and make the most sense at the time.
-
okay and how many sales back should one really be comparing and making an average from?
-
In my opinion. Its situational depending on what is available.
-
It is natural to do, but it is funny to watch the comp process in real time when someone is selling a card and when someone is buying a card. Two totally difference ways to comp depending on what side you’re on. I try and stick with my 3 month average comp for the most part so I can be consistent. Although I will say, if it is a player who has cards that continue to climb each day or week. I can see 3 months not being a great way to come up with a sale or purchase price.

Thank you for the advice and help on this. I am going to take all ideas and come to some middle ground on it! I know the person who is interested so I am sure we will come up with a deal where both of us feel good. As long as I make something and he has some room, we should be good. My rule is everyone has to feel good about the deal or there is no deal.

i just saw a video today where the vendor talked about making deals where both walk away feeling good. if one doesnt then the deal shouldnt be done.
