If anyone here is a vendor at card shows I’d like your opinion. I know most if not all card shows charge per table and the venue provides the tables, but would you rather be charged for a spot, but bring your own tables and set up up 3 tables for example. Then if you purchased two spots you could set up 6 tables ect. I’m thinking a u shape so you don’t interfere with other vendor spots.

not a vendor but i think alot of shows sell the spots like they do just for a constant flow. i have seen shows on video where some vendors had u shaped with tables. i thin ksome vendors get to big and not enough people watching there stuff.

The U-shape idea is interesting because it gives you more usable space without necessarily spilling into the neighboring vendor’s area. The big question for me would be whether the venue has enough aisle space to accommodate different setups without creating bottlenecks.

I think the venue I have could support it. I’ve already started the process so I won’t change it now, but I think I may try it the next show. I will draw it out and see how it would work. I figure it would be easier for me as I would have to supply the tables and the vendors would like it because they would save money.

Yeah, I think that could actually be a really interesting setup for the next show. If the venue has the space, the biggest thing would just be drawing it out ahead of time and making sure the U-shape doesn’t eat up too much aisle space.

I’m going to be making a floor plan soon for the venue. I’ll play around with the layout to see what we can do. Just trying to balance money from table fees with making sure the vendor gets the most value, and a good experience for the attendees.

oh thats understandable. i just think most shows do how they do like you said to not cause bottlenecking. but i think it could be done since they already do L shaped spots

I’m sure there is a very good reason for them to say it up the standard way. My idea may be terrible. For both vendors and customers haha

I would rather pay for the spot and have the option to bring my own table and the spot be a little cheaper, and then I could still pay for the spot and table if I don’t want to bring my own.

Thank you for the feedback! Once I draw the floor plan next week, I’ll make two floor plans to see if the idea works. It would be easier for me not to supply tables and maybe a plus to lower table fees for the vendor. Like others have said, it could create issues and bottlenecks, maybe take up too much space and limit the number of spots available. All valid points and I appreciate everyone’s input. I’ll post the floor plan and ask for more input soon!

I am always open to listening to ideas especially if the opinions are coming from people who have a lot of experience in said field.

I don’t think I have seen a show that does not provide you with a certain size spot and tables. Seems like it would be too messy to do it any other way

I figured there was a reason for setting shows up the way they do. My parents have been buying and selling antiques at shows for decades and they bring their own tables. Figured I could give idea try. I think my main worry is people setting up their tables any way they want and then there being friction between vendors haha that’s my only real worry about my idea.

Yes, that for sure could be an issue. I think it would also be tough because you cant really set up until people show up. Then you have to hope they are in the right spot.

Yeah tables with their names in them as soon as they arrive seems easier.

or if spots are marked out they could just be numbered and each vendor has a number. down the road i know some spots could cost more from some shows as there prime spots and such

Yeah I am not going to have my next show until late winter / early spring so I will have time to come up with a plan. I will also talk with all the vendors at the show and get their feedback.

I drag enough things with me. Do the idea of having to bring tables odd not welcomed and in fact I wouldn’t go to a show that did that.

When given the chance to rent display cases at a big show I do. Makes my job easier.

Most shows we have here have tables set up in rows not in 10×10 areas. I have found for me when a booth is available I’ll grab it even if it costs more.

    Running a show isn’t easy.

The show I volunteered at they had them rent the space then the vendors set up the tables how they wanted. I feel like it would be dependent on how big your venue is
