Weekend pickups… and a couple of signatures 🔥
I had a pretty ridiculous card weekend, and I’m still looking at this stack thinking, “Yeah… I did alright.” lol
Saturday was the Cincinnati card show. I brought a few baseball cards with me specifically hoping to get some signatures, and I came home VERY happy.
First up is an Elly De La Cruz rookie patch auto, 5/36, with a player-worn patch and RED INK. Getting this one signed in person was definitely a highlight.
Then there’s the Noelvi Marte Topps NOW TRUE RED 1/5, with the “ROBBED” inscription in metallic black. This one is just ridiculously cool, and getting that inscription on the card makes it even better.
I also added two Pokémon cards to the weekend haul: a Charizard V 153/172 from Brilliant Stars and the Blastoise ex 184/165 from 151. The Blastoise is definitely going to PSA, and I’m probably sending the Charizard too.
Then Sunday was the Sal Stewart event at the shop I work at, and I brought a 2026 Series 2 Sal Stewart rookie card to get signed. I ended up with a True Orange 24/25 game-used patch with RED INK AUTO.
That one is going to PSA too. I’ll probably send the three Reds cards in together, mainly for authentication and the autos rather than chasing grades on the cards themselves.
So yeah…
Saturday: Cincinnati card show + Elly + Noelvi + Pokémon.
Sunday: Sal Stewart event + a nasty little True Orange /25.
Not exactly a quiet weekend. 😂

It would be hard for commoners like most of us to top your weekend! It truly was 🔥🔥🔥 That “robbed” is the BEST! Though no one would scoff at the Elly or Sal auto. And both my fav type of card, the swatch. And THEN add a couple of great Pokemon cards. You raked!! Congrats!!

😂 I definitely raked this weekend. The “ROBBED” inscription might actually be my favorite part of the whole haul because it makes that Nolvi card feel so much more unique.
And yeah, getting the Elly and Sal autos on cards I already really liked was a huge win. Then somehow I managed to sneak two Pokémon cards into the weekend too. The wallet may not agree, but I’m calling it a successful weekend. 😂

😂 Big Man Blastoise is officially what I’m calling him now.
I got both for $50, so it was a solid deal, especially after seeing how crazy some Pokémon tables were this weekend. I definitely had to do a little negotiating to get there, but I’m really happy with the pickups.
And after working that Pokémon show, I’m guessing you saw some absolutely wild prices. 😂

Both for $50 for final evolutions is not terrible at all.

Yeah, seeing a five-figure card in person is one thing, but actually having the budget to buy it is a completely different universe. 😂 I’m perfectly happy being the guy standing there going, “Wow, that’s awesome,” and then walking away with my wallet intact.
And yeah, $50 for both Final Evolutions cards felt like a pretty solid deal to me. Especially when you consider how quickly Pokémon prices can get ridiculous.

Yeah thats about how I was with the 5 digit card. “Oh thats pretty cool. Thanks for letting me see it.” And yeah the prices for those 2 can be pretty hefty for sure! Getting them graded definately the way to go because of the potential for a shootup in price.

Yeah, I think grading is definitely the move on those two. At $50 for both, there’s enough upside there to make the gamble worthwhile, especially if they come back with strong grades.
Now I just have to resist the temptation to keep buying Pokémon every time I see a good deal. 😂

😂 See, that’s exactly how it starts. “It’s only $2” is how the Pokémon rabbit hole gets you.
But honestly, if the card looks like the Pokémon is wearing a safety vest, I’d probably buy it too. At that point you’re not buying the card, you’re buying the joke. Totally different category. 😂

That is so sweet you got the robbed inscription on the card!

Yeah, that inscription idea is what really sold me on the card. The 1/5 True Red was already a great pickup, but having “ROBBED” in metallic black makes it feel like a card with an actual story behind it. Definitely one of those cards that’s going to stand out in the PC.

Yeah, exactly. Being at the game makes it so much more than just a numbered card. The 1/5, the “ROBBED” inscription, and now the memory of actually being there. That’s the kind of card that becomes harder to replace as time goes on.
