Absolutely! A 4 on a vintage card can still be a great piece, especially when you consider how tough it is to find these cards with decent eye appeal after all these years. Sometimes the card itself matters a whole lot more than the number on the slab!

I can see that. The potential is exciting, but dropping that kind of money before he’s established himself long-term is a serious gamble. Even $4K feels like a lot when you’re buying the ceiling rather than the track record. If he keeps producing, there may still be room to grow, but a lot of that price is betting on what happens next.

Well, that team success argument took a hit pretty quickly 😂 Getting knocked out after being up 2–0 definitely changes the conversation. Now Murakami’s long-term value probably depends more on his individual production next season and whether he can establish himself as one of the league’s premier power hitters.

That’s the tricky part with these markets: sometimes the talent is still there, but injuries and awards can change the narrative overnight.

That’s a really good comparison. Ohtani’s market showed how much performance and momentum can drive prices, but also how quickly things can cool when injuries or uncertainty enter the picture. I think Murakami could follow a similar pattern, especially while the excitement around his rookie season is still fresh. The real test will be whether collectors are still paying these premiums two or three years from now. That’s when we’ll know if it’s lasting demand or just the initial hype.

Yeah Ginter is really nice in a break format. Because gives you more opportunities for hits but since the hobbies are sub $300 the spots stay affordable. Still have spots on the board as low as $35 (Miami) and as high as $255 (Yankees)

Haha exactly! Once you start going down that rabbit hole, you realize there was SO much cool non-sport stuff being made. 😂 I recently found some of the old Topps Simpsons cards and they immediately caught my attention. They have that perfect 90s/early-2000s nostalgia factor, and the artwork on some of them is awesome. Now I’m looking at those the same way you’re looking at the Tom and Jerry cards… “well, I guess I collect these now.” 😂
