It’s a fun thing they started doing last year where certain rookies have a red shield and if they win RotY you can trade them in for buy back credit. But you can also choose to hold them and if they win MVP later it goes up, if they win multiple MVPs it goes up higher, and if they make the HoF that will be the max credit.

Oh I had a fun one I had to complain about on eBay. Wemby rookie, listed as mint, all pictures in a one touch. Then I get it and it’s in a top loader, no penny sleeve, bend on back of, was shipped in a plain white envelope even though it cost over $19.99, and there was a crumb stuck to the card. I ended up just taking a partial refund because I didn’t want to deal with sending it back and everything. Was pretty annoyed

That’s an awesome list. Based on how well SpongeBob and GPK have done, it definitely pays for Topps to go at our nostalgia a bit

I’m a such a sucker for a good color match PC wise. I think it just adds to the over design for of the card

I live in Cincinnati, he’s the man here. Is he really highly priced? Yes…but does he have tremendous upside? Yes. So at the end of the day until that upside fades, his cards will keep commanding a premium. I got a 5/36 patch rookie of his I’m getting signed in a couple weeks

Yeah it depends on how someone collects. I got my PC stuff but I also like to have the freedom to flip it if I decide to later. Topps will still have their national products that will be licensed. There’s also a huge difference bet what Leaf and Wild Cards does vs Panini. Panini is still making the same stuff just without licenses. WC and Leaf backed into being weird a niche and it’s their biggest draw. Like WC has special ESPN packs you can buy at national. Nothing licensed in it but cool card design.

I agree, it doesn’t feel like a dramatic change yet. Outside of adding the NFL licensing, a lot of the products still feel very similar to what Topps was already doing. I was hoping they’d take the opportunity to introduce a few fresh ideas instead of just updating the logos.

That said, this is really just the beginning of the Fanatics era. I’m interested to see how the products evolve over the next few years now that they have full control of the license. Hopefully we’ll start seeing more innovation as they settle in.

That’s actually a valuable perspective. Coming back to the hobby with fresh eyes probably lets you judge the products for what they are instead of constantly comparing them to older releases. It’ll be interesting to see how you feel after a full year of releases once you’ve had a chance to rip more products and see how Topps evolves its NFL lineup.

I think there’s definitely some truth to that. Since Fanatics acquired Topps, it feels like they’re blending some of the things collectors loved from Panini with Topps’ own style. You can see hints of that in the inserts, designs, and overall presentation as they try to build products that appeal to collectors who have spent years ripping Panini NFL.

The pricing is probably the biggest sticking point for me, though. Expectations naturally go up when box prices climb as much as they have. If collectors are paying a premium, they’re going to expect premium designs, strong checklists, and a ripping experience that feels worth the investment.

That’s a fair take. The licensing definitely makes the cards feel more complete, but beyond the logos, I think the bigger question is whether Topps will use the license to create products that feel genuinely different over time. It’ll be interesting to see if they introduce new inserts, concepts, or innovations that really separate this era of Topps NFL from what we’ve seen before.

Yeah if it was like one problem I could over look it, people have bad days, but the fact there were so many things wrong was just frustrating.
