It’s def changed over time. I look at some of the first cards i’d take to cons to get signed /99, /75, /150, Now if its over /35 then I won’t ever consider getting it signed (unless the numbers are outrageously priced)

Long story short, Robert Downey JR is back but from an alternate reality where instead of becoming Tony Stark/Iron Man he become a tyrant called Dr.Doom. If I can get describe Doom, think Dr. Strange’s magic meets all Iron Man’s tech and he’s one of the baddest dudes in comics lol

I’d probably go with the $500 card of one of my PC athletes. Once I’ve narrowed my collecting focus, I think a card of someone I actively collect is going to have more staying power for me than simply buying the biggest Pokémon chase available.
That said, a $500 Umbreon is a pretty dangerous proposition 😂 If it’s an artwork I absolutely love, I could see myself talking myself into it pretty quickly.
The Caitlin numbered rookie would probably be the one that makes me think the hardest. There’s something about a numbered rookie of a player you collect that’s tough to pass up.

Yeah, I’m pretty much with you on that distinction. At the pro level, fans are paying to watch a product, and booing is part of the reaction when that product isn’t performing. Players are getting paid to perform, so criticism comes with the territory.
College is different to me too. Even with NIL changing the financial side of college sports, there’s still a different relationship between the athletes and the fans. I’d have a much harder time booing a college kid who is struggling than I would a professional who’s having a bad game.
