Ok. What do you mean that you bought them on eBay and then let the seller submit them to PSA? Was that a service that the seller was offering? Or did you request it somehow?

I can’t say for sure. I know that a couple of the local shops do whatnot shows. I don’t know if they do breaks though. In those cases, I think it just adds to the customer experience. They can maybe get something extra from the shop and still support the local shop.
I also think that some of the local shops have to find alternative ways of moving product if they want to stay afloat. Some of them are just too small and need the additional revenues. I know if I could get boxes at wholesale, I’d be doing a lot more breaks than I do. As it is, I just do them for fun and when I get boxes that are super limited and whose values have gone up a ton. It’s a way for me to still get money out of the box *and* see what’s in it.

Super nice. I think both of those players are going to have better years this year too so should help the value some.

Being the eternal optimist that I am, I gotta say the Raiders. lol. I can’t even say it with a straight face. I do hope so, but it’s somewhat unlikely.
More likely, I think we see the Patriots and the Bears maybe. There just isn’t a clear front runner in the NFC. The AFC might be a little bit like it was last year. Chiefs with Mahomes back, the Broncos, the Texans? I always get it about half wrong this early in the year anyways.

I sort of like it for the same reasons. It’s simple and not overly designed. I still like some of the flashy ones too but find that I like having these in the collection too.

I’ve had pretty good luck just taking a scan picture with my phone, and their AI has found most of the info for most of the cards.

I’ve done some of both now. Its probably not going to be big enough as a market to replace ebay for selling but I like it so far.

Yeah. I was just looking through some of the other cards they had and found that one. Decided to add it to the deal.
I’ve found that most of the sellers on collx are willing to accept a 10% or so lower price if youre buying multiple cards.

Yeah. With the last set, they had blaster boxes at about $55. So far I haven’t seen any of those for this set. The Double Mega’s are an OK buy without the guaranteed auto and you get a fair amount of product. But, the stock is so limited that almost nobody sells by the pack anymore and when they do it’s like 15 a pack for the double mega packs when there’s likely only about 3 worth of resale in the pack unless you hit something big.

I just reread this and it sounds super negative. It’s not. It’s just the state of the hobby I think. The cards are fun, the art is pretty good, and I really enjoy some of the alts. The “Skyline” cards are super cool as are the 8-bit alt arts. And the hobby boxes have a guaranteed auto in every box, so that’s some of the pricing on those. I do hope they release some blaster boxes that the average collector can drop 50 on and get some packs though.

There’s a ton of chase cards. Parallels all over the place. Much like anything else, it makes the common bulk and even the common foil worth little to nothing unless you’re building decks to play the game. And the rare parallels are hard to get ahold of and hard to rip in packs. The boxes are on the high end (about 550 retail on a hobby, but 750 or more on ebay) so it makes it super expensive to try and rip your own leaving you to decide if you want to try and jump in to get lucky on your chase in a break.
Breaks are somewhat fun cause you get to see the cards that come out of the boxes without (hopefully) paying full price for the box. But you also get skunked a lot. The break I ran the other day had 133 hero spots in it. There were at least 2 of the buyers who didn’t even get any common cards for their spot. I threw some stuff in for them, but how much of a bummer is that?

It was shipped USPS Ground Advantage. It was in a toploader, inside of a cardboard mailer, inside of a white bubble envelope. The odds of it not arriving safely should have been almost none.
There will always be those outlier shipments unfortunately. The seller did a full refund and was super apologetic about it. It’s just one of those things. I’m happy with how the seller handled it, but I’d rather USPS hadn’t mangled it in a machine along the line.

For sure. This Tecmo set is by far my favorite of the sets they’ve come out with. Just really good art in general, but also really nice inserts.

the tecmo inserts are so cool. the only way I’d ever get one is through a break though. I just can’t bring myself to spend a ton of money on singles.
