Unfortunately not. Very small with not much room. They do clear things out a bit for an occasional trade night, but have never been to one.

No, I don’t think the hobby is getting too big. there are certainly lanes of the hobby that have become very difficult to navigate on a reasonable budget, as is the case with all things. Want to have the best golf, fishing, or camping equipment? Get prepared to fork out some dough. Want the best rarest and best MTG cards, get ready to drop a fortune. Want retro videogames in good condition? better cash in that 401K!
The ecosystem seems much healthier than it has in the past, imo. The growth seems natural and there are explanations that make sense to me. Now, are there some recent signs that there may be some unhealthy spikes in certain areas of the market? For sure. There is no reason for certain base cards to be selling at the current price they are moving at. The Shaq & Jordan Electrified are a good example of what I think are unhealthy spikes. However, despite these outliers, there are ways to participate in the hobby at all income levels in almost every category. If you like to rip packs and check out new product, there is a wide range of products that are affordable as an entry point. Topps Flagship is being printed into the ground to help keep supply available and affordable. If you want mid tier and high end products, the world is your oyster. Not into sports? No problem! We have TCG, Disney, and pop culture cards in all price brackets. Just looking for a hit of nostalgia? Junk wax and entertainment IPs have an abundance of old school packs available to buy for under $5 a pack.
As far as the ecosystem itself, there seems to be a large push by the investor class, corporations, media, and athletes to keep the hobby in the public consciousness and attract new people to the buzz surrounding it. Breakers are keeping a fresh supply of singles flooding into the market which helps keep costs down (somewhat) and the various marketplaces full of inventory for demanding consumers. Interest is expanding globally into other countries and other sports. The Asian market is incredibly strong in basketball and baseball, especially in the 90s thru ultra modern eras. Australia is a strong market for basketball as well, and we have all seen the recent rise in soccer.
I know there are fears that this is one big bubble, but I just don’t see it bursting anytime soon. A market correction and possibly even a regression seems possible in the future, but i don’t think we see a crash in the way we did post covid. If you are a prospector, I wouldn’t feel very safe, but if you are investing in GOATS and proven commodities, I think you will be OK long term.
And for those that collect solely for the love of the hobby and are not financially motivated, there are so many options to collect and converse with like minded individuals (such as thehobbi.com).
To me, the future looks bright!

Big Bears fan here, so pretty pumped for this season. Looking for #18 to do his thing and put up MVP type numbers. Worried about our defense a bit, but optomistic about this season overall. Bears finish 13-4 and make a run to the SB. Book it!

Currently interested in tracking down a sweet Justin Gaethje RC. Also, always looking fro guys that were great during the pride FC era.

Heart says Bears V Bills
Brain says Rams V Broncos

Picked up a sweet Brady Rookie and Manning Rookie this weekend. Will post later when i get to the house

Dolly’s passing got me thinking about other icons that might be worth researching their “rookie” trading cards. I picked up a early Lucille Ball, a Princess Diana, and a few more 1969 Apollo cards of Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to go with the Neil Armstrongs I picked up the other day.

The most commonly known is the Mark jackson rookie in 1990 hoops. There is also a card in the “Rare Air” jordan set with them in the background. It is more difficult to find and worth more than the Mark Jackson RC

There are some UFC cards in my Tallica’s PC Thread. I will try to post some more items in this thread when I can

Beautiful card, Mike! I was just looking through my Peyton cards last night and found the base copy. Really nice movement in his market lately. I picked up a PSA 10 of his UD3 #91 RC. Was shocked to find it’s only a Pop 9!

Fake it till you make it! LOL. Just like the boys in 1985 with the Super Bowl Shuffle, we like to call our shots

For the Brady trade, I traded away a Shaq 1993 Scoring Kings in a PSA 8 ($1,800) and a Shaq N-Tense PSA 9 ($700) for a 2000 Fleer Metal Tom Brady RC in a PSA 8 ($,2000) + $230 cash. About $170 in his favor overall, but an easy trade for me. The Brady is gorgeous and under valued in my mind and I came up about 10X or more on my Shaqs from what i paid.
